Play! by Sephora | June 2016

If you don’t know already, Sephora came out with their own beauty subscription box last fall.

If you’re not familiar with it, I’ll give you details!

Play by Sephora is a monthly subscription box that comes with 5 deluxe samples plus a bonus perfume; for only $10! All products you receive are sold in Sephora.

Also in the box comes a book that contains tip, tricks and advice on each product.

Play pass to redeem in store for a free one on one tutorial and 50 bonus beauty insider points with any purchase on the same day.

All the products come in a cute little collectible bag.

This month’s theme was Minimalists.

In the box:

Bumble and Bumble Don’t Blow It

Adds body and enhances fine to medium hair for a laid back, air dried style.

After you get out of the shower you apply this cream all over your hair, twisting and scrunching if desired. If you have more frizzy hair when air drying, place your hair in a bun until product is dry.

I like how this cream brought out my naturally curly hair. But when I put my hair in a bun there was definitely a lot of poofiness to my roots. I would suggest not letting it dry all the way in the bun and let out and style it how you want before the product dries.

Bareminerals bareSkin Bronzer

Blendable, lightweight liquid bronzer. You can wear this on it’s on, with foundation or add it in with your moisturizer.

I haven’t tried this, I’m a little scared that I’ll look orange since I’m so pale.

Benefit They’re Real Mascara

I literally bought another one of these a couple of days before this box came in the mail.

I will say that this mascara is one of my favorites, I like the brush which surprises me because I’m not one to like spikey mascara wands.

Becca Backlight Priming Filter

Everyone and their mother has been raving about this primer. Now I finally get to try it!

It acts as a soft focus filter to blur imperfections and give skin an effortless luminous look.

Tarte Tarteguard 30 Sunscreen Lotion

I know it’s bad but I actually don’t wear sunscreen. I just hate the smell and feeling of it. So I probably won’t try this unless I’m near water, where I do tend to get a little sun.

Tocca Beauty Florence Perfume

I have a lot of sample perfumes from subscription boxes. But I can say this one, is a little too strong for me. I’m not really an real perfume wearing type person, I typically only buy the Pink body sprays.

Overall I am really happy that I decided to get this box. I honestly think I would use the products more that come in this box than what I used out of my Boxycharm box. Don’t get me wrong Boxycharm was great, even the price was awesome. But the last couple of months I’ve barely touched anything after I opened the boxes.

This box was purchased with my own money, all opinions of products are my own.

  1. I think we can get over boxed a bit. There’s only so many new products we can try before they start to blend into one long string of product. Sephoras sounds awfully cheap considering how expensive the French stores are. Are they sample size products or full sized?

    • They are deluxe sample sized. Their the size of the products when you go to check out that they put by the register. Miniature versions. I like the fact that sephora box has beands I’ve heard of and easy to get to. Boxycharm on the other hand I rarely heard of the names and it was typically the same brand every month.

      • Interesting. Thanks for the reply.

I do the PR for a few beauty and hair brands and the main problem is Box companies don’t want to pay for the products but want to make a profit themselves. Makes brands not want to work with them.

Sephora will do well though. Full tie in to shop products and they get best wholesale prices so can pick and choose from a big catalogue each month.

      • I feel like a lot of the times when I was getting Ipsy and I’ve even noticed a few times with Boxycharm, that they have so much left over products that they throw in again and again. But I feel like sephora won’t have that problem since they already have all the products available to them. I’ve only gotten 2 boxes from sephora and I’m more happier with those two boxes than almost 2 years of boxycharm boxes.
